REDESIGN AND REBUILD THEIR PREVIOUS GLOBAL STUDENT COMPETITION WEBSITES.

Certiport enlisted me to redesign their global student competition websites, aligning them with a new one-page microsite layout I proposed. I recommended a streamlined approach, consolidating all essential information onto a single page with intuitive links and downloadable documents. These templates will serve as the foundation for future competition websites, including those for Microsoft, Adobe, and Autodesk student competitions.

The Team

The team is primarily myself, contracted to create three global sites. I received content, images, and requirements  from Certiport management and staff. Weekly meetings on progress and updates of the three competitions.

Strategy

The approach focused on creating a one-page CMS site designed to engage students while avoiding information overload. The goal was to emphasize the fun and inclusive nature of the competition, reinforcing that everyone is a winner, regardless of the outcome. The site was also designed to be responsive and easy to update in the future. To achieve this, I researched various WordPress themes and developed sketches, wireframes, frameworks, and prototypes based on the selected theme that best suited the project’s objectives.

Planning

After creating multiple wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, I submitted the designs to the QA team and stakeholders for review. Frequent adjustments were required due to ongoing updates from three different sources related to the competition. However, thanks to the use of a robust WordPress theme, implementing these changes and updates was quick and seamless.

Design and Launch

After months of preparation and development, the sites were ready to launch for the upcoming competition year. Built on Certiport's platforms, the development process included addressing potential security concerns and integrating sign-up features for the competition.

These sites are designed to be editable and reusable, ensuring they can support future student events year after year.

One-Page CMS Designs

A one-page design on WordPress offers a streamlined and engaging way to present content, eliminating the need for users to click through multiple pages. It creates a focused narrative flow where visitors can easily scroll to find information, making it ideal for portfolios, landing pages, or campaign-specific sites. Choosing to build it on WordPress, it’s also highly customizable, responsive, and simple to update, allowing the educational system to maintain a professional presence without complex development overhead.

Below are simple initial wireframes before the actual design of the CMS website. This is a perfect way to gather and place all the necessary information for the sites, eliminating what is not necessary and to keep to our one-page design method.
