Daz3D
My role at Daz3D
Daz Studio is a software application that enables users to create 3D scenes and rendering applications for producing images and videos.
Daz3D was in the process of updating their Morph3D to establish a more responsive environment for artists and animators to download their starter packages. I was responsible for developing the new wireframes, mockups, and user flow for the shopping cart site.
Team
I became part of a two-person team, which made for an adventurous experience. We collaborated on concepts, wireframes, and shared our motivations to develop an easy-to-use, informative site and shop. The challenge was navigating the limitations of the outdated Magento platform, along with other constraints that I’ll leave to your imagination.
Strategy
Utilizing Magento Open Source as the framework and shopping cart, my role was to enhance the existing shopping platform by simplifying user navigation and promoting additional features. I developed sketch ideas, flow maps, wireframes, and prototypes, which were then handed off to the developer for precise replication of my designs. The use of a Magento UI Kit significantly streamlined this process.
Planning
After creating several wireframes, mockups, and prototypes, I would submit the work to the development team of one and make any necessary adjustments. My deliverables consistently included screenshots and mock-ups to eliminate any questions or guesswork. Additionally, I would collaborate with the development as needed to resolve any CSS challenges.
Design and Launch
After weeks of preparation and design by a small team, along with artwork from in-house artists and approval from stakeholders, the latest version of Morph3D was successfully launched.
