My role at iCORDS

iCORDS initially created a basic framework for the platform, but it needed significant enhancements to improve usability and navigation.

It was crucial that the platform met the needs of our stakeholders, particularly oil companies. I took the lead in designing a platform specifically tailored for geoscientists, ensuring it was accessible globally across modern browsers. In addition to my design responsibilities, I served as the art director, overseeing the branding from the project’s inception. Since joining iCORDS, I have successfully designed and launched versions 1.0 and 1.1, and worked on the design for version 2.

Team

I became part of a diverse team of developers from around the globe, bringing together a remarkable array of knowledge and skills that we exchanged with one another. We collaborated on concepts, behaviors, and motivations to find effective solutions. Additionally, our group lunches provided a wonderful opportunity to share our stories and celebrate our different cultures. This experience is one I will always cherish.

Strategy

We held meetings with geologists, the development team, and platform users to gather detailed information and requirements related to the geoscience domain. Using the insights shared during our daily scrum meetings, I created sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes. This collaborative process helped establish a clear roadmap for our next steps.

Planning

After creating multiple wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and conducting thorough quality assurance, we finalized the user interface and feature flow for the upcoming versions of the project.

Before launching the platform for public paying subscribers, we had the benefit of our sponsors testing it throughout the development process. Their feedback offered valuable insights into preferences and concerns we might have overlooked. We carefully incorporated their suggestions, refining them further to enhance the overall user experience.
