My role at iCORDS
iCORDS had a shell for a platform. I had to come in with a plan to make it user friendly and easier to navigate. At the same time, give it a clean, spacial feel and look.
I led the design of the platform for geoscientist that will be used globally across modern browsers. I also doubled as an art director and branded everything from the start of this adventure. Since my time with iCORDS, I have designed the launch of version 1.0, 1.1, and started the design of version 2.
Team
I joined a team of developers with the fantastic variation of knowledge and skills which we shared amongst each other. We shared concepts, behaviors, and motivations to reach solutions.
Strategy
Scheduling meetings with the geologists, the dev team, and platform users to gather as much information on the workings of the geoscience world.
From the shared visions gathered at our daily scrum meetings amongst our team, I created sketches, wireframes, mock-ups, and prototypes This set forth our plan for our next steps.
Real QA
Before our platform was available to public paying subscribers, we had the benefit of our sponsors testing as we went along, giving us insights, likes, dislikes, everything a geologists could come up with we could’nt ourselves. We absorbed it all and made their suggestions one step or two better.
Planning
After multitudes of wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and extensive QA – I would make the final decision on the UI and flow of the features of the project for the latest particular versions to be launched.
Design and Launch
Days of preparation come alive with the launch. The support team ready to answer questions if needed. We are already working on the next version update.
